The Allure of the "Bad Boy"

What is the allure of the "bad boy" that makes normal, sensible women go weak in the knees and lose all common sense? What is it that they have that draws us away from the good, handsome, sensible choices available to us and makes us rise to challenge of wanting something from the "bad boy", that we know deep in our hearts, they are never going to give us?

I know that I've been referencing the television series Charmed a lot lately, and I mention this because I'm going to do it again, but in my defense, I've been watching a lot of it lately. I'm hooked. Hello, my name is Erika and I'm a Charmed-a-holic. Is that a word? Could it be?

In my previous posts I have said that I was in love with a fictional character and I meant it. Leo is absolutely perfect. He's a good person, he has a kind heart and good soul. He's handsome, smart, loyal and above all, a good guy. I still stand by what I said before.

Having said that, have you met Cole Turner?

Cole Turner is half human half demon. He's a bad guy who wants to be good for the woman he loves. How smexy is that???

So tell me ladies, what is it about the "bad boy" that makes you want him?

Willpower

Willpower: energetic determination; control of one's impulses and actions; self-control; the strength of will to carry out one's decisions, wishes, or plans; determination and self-discipline: a combination of determination and self-discipline that enables somebody to do something despite the difficulties involved; something Erika does not possess.

These are all defintions of willpower, most of them I found in online dictionaries, the last one I just knew off the top of my head.

We all use willpower throughout our lives in different areas. You use willpower to not eat the last donought in the box or to not call in sick to work even though there's a MONSTER sale going on at Macy's. We use willpower to not unground our children even though they look pitiful and sad and our anger is long over; but I think the most difficult part of willpower, at least in my life, is when we need to use it to do something we want to do.

I will go to the library to write, I will subject my writing to the critique of my friends, I will do research (YUK!) on amnesia, police and hospital procedure and last but not least, I will write a synopsis of my book and get my query letters submitted. Oh and let's not forget, I will not eat the ice cream that I know is sitting in the freezer calling my name!!!! I won't, I won't, I won't?

I have managed to lose 13 pounds *roar of the crowd* using what very tiny bit of willpower I actually have and it hasn't been easy, but I want it. I want to be healthy and I want to not be embarassed about how I look in a dress, that makes the willpower in me even stronger. How do you use your willpower? Is your willpower strong or do you suffer like I do?

Justin Chambers or Logan Marshall Green

I am a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy. I love Alex Karev, he's one of my favorite characters. Imagine my surprise when I watched the first episode of Dark Blue on TNT and saw "Dean" who surprisingly looks a lot like Alex Karev (Justin Chambers). I had to IMDB these two guys, I thought maybe they were related. Yeah, they're not. What do you think? Do these two look alike or is just me? I mean, that is always a possibility. :D

Leo Wyatt A.K.A. Brian Krause

My name is Erika and I'm in love with a fictional character.

HOW SAD IS THAT?????

I have always wanted to watch the television series Charmed. Thanks to Netflix I now am. I just finished watching the 2nd disc of the 3rd season. It's official. I'm in love with Leo. Forget the fact that he's dead. A World War II hero killed in the line of duty (I think), the fact that he's a white lighter, we just push that aside. Let us not forget that he's head over heels in love with Piper. Oh and how about the fact that HE'S NOT REAL!

The actor on the other hand, totally real, totally hot and according to his website, a bachelor. *grin* I may have to move to Orange County. Think my husband will mind???

Okay, then. Now that I've gotten that off my chest, I leave you with some pictures of Leo Wyatt, er, I mean Brian Krause. Happy Friday my friends!

Breast Cancer Awareness

I have personally been affected by breast cancer in my life. My mom is a survivor. Two and a half years. This week on So You Think You Can Dance, choreographer Tyce Diorio came up with a dance he called "This Woman's Work". The story of the dance is one woman's struggle with breast cancer. I was deeply touched by this dance and I wanted all of my friends to see it so they could be touched as well.

LSM Nomination Day

Okay ladies, let's have it. Who's your nomination for the week? My choice, Shawn Marion. This man should never have worn a jersey that said anything other than Phoenix Suns. Since he has recently been traded (AGAIN) to the Dallas Mavericks, I prefer to see him in no jersey at all!

Are You A Megan Fox fan?

I am probably violating some copyright by posting this, but, I am willing to live with the consequences. I found this on page 8 of July 24, 2009 edition of The Week.

OH. MY. I am a Megan Fox fan. I love her movies, I think she's gorgeous and now, I totally dig her candor. Do you think her publicist is having fits????

Nothing comes to mind . . .

I have tried to not be a big huge blog slacker. I've tried to think of witty ideas or subjects that I could write about and we could all sit back and have interesting dialogue about. I've thought about reviewing a couple of books that I've read, but I'm not a very good reviewer. (Is that a word?) I've thought about talking about my favorite new female character Bobbie Faye Sumrall, but I don't know that I could fill that much space. I was going to post an interview with Becca but I haven't gotten around to putting it to paper yet. So, instead of one more day of white space I would fill some space with a couple of quick ramblings before I have to head off to the day job.

First off, I finished Girls Just Wanna Have Guns by Toni McGee Causey. I cannot say enough wonderful things about these books. They're fun, adventurous, well written and laugh out loud funny. Toni McGee Causey has a way of delivering her characters that makes everything they do believable. Her male characters are hot, hunky and desireable. Joe and Ranger have nothing on these guys. (I can't believe I just said that, I love Joe & Ranger.) If you haven't put Charmed & Dangerous and Girls Just Wanna Have Guns on your "to be kept forever" shelf you need too. I know that I will be reading these books over and over and over again.

I found an old high school friend on Facebook. We're getting together for lunch on Sunday and I'm super excited to see her again. I haven't spoken to her since I was 17 or 18 years old. So much has changed in both of our lives. I can't wait to sit down, catch up and get reacquainted. So thank you to all of my friends who convinced me to sign up.

I have quickly run out of time this morning and need to get my rear into the shower. Happy Hump Day friends.

Research, HELP?

I don't like research it's my least favorite part of writing, so I'm trying to cheat. Wanna help me out? Can anyone give me any information AT ALL on what would happen if someone came into a hospital with no identification and was unconscious? Let's say even needed life saving surgery and remained unconscious for weeks. Anyone? Bueller?

OMG ROLLER BABIES!!!! TOO CUTE!!!!

What can you remember?

What is memory? According to Wisegeek.com, human memory consists of information patterns being stored temporarily or permanently in the interconnection patterns and synaptic weightings among neurons in the brain, also known as the gathering of information from the outside world through our senses. We all do it, although some of us remember things differently than others.

I have friends who can't tell you the name of the book they are currently reading or who wrote it. The same friends can read a book over and over again and always be surprised by the ending. I, on the other hand, remember the name of every teacher I had throughout my education. Why? I dunno. I can watch the beginning of a CSI episode and 10 minutes into it, if I've seen it once, I remember who done it. I can't reread a mystery because I always remember how it ends and yet I can walk into a room and forget why I'm there. I go to the grocery store for one specific thing and walk out without it. I think of a really kick ass storyline and by the time I get home to write it down, it's gone.

This my friends, is why my husband bought me a digital recorder. This is the coolest little gadget in the whole wide world. It records and it saves and there's no tapes. Even when it runs out of batteries, it still remembers. How cool is technology???

So how do y'all remember kick ass story lines and such? Do you write it down? What if you're driving? Inquiring minds want to know.

LSM Nomination Day

So originally I wanted to do "The Men of So You Think You Can Dance", but I gotta tell ya, for guys who almost always dance without a shirt or barely a shirt, there are not any pictures of these guys shirtless. WHAT. EVER. So, I had to come up with a back up plan and I don't have one. So, I'm winging it. If you have a nomination great, leave it here otherwise enjoy the show.

League of Shirtless Men

Happy Hump Day Ladies!

And now, I give you the men of True Blood . . .

I didn't want to forget Nathan Ellis (cause he's my favorite) even though this is the best pic I could find.
