What I learned this weekend

My Internet was down for nearly 5 days. FIVE DAYS! I had no idea that I relied on the Internet as much as I do. I was having withdrawals. I couldn't check my favorite blogs, I had no idea how to find out what was playing at the movie theater. I had to locate the yellow pages (the actual books) to get the phone number to the Chinese place down the street, I had to look on my bank statement to find out how to check my balance. I was just shocked at how much I use the Internet for. Thank goodness for my friends Donna & Renada who allowed me to use their Internet to check my e-mail and check up on my favorite blogs. *applause applause*

SO, you're probably wondering what I did with myself all weekend...okay, you're probably not, but I'm going to tell you anyway. I finally finished all of the grunt work so that I could my taxes done, I read Blood Magic from start to finish (excellent read BTW), I harassed my husband into cleaning out the closet and I caught up on a lot of television that I had taking up space on my DVR. I hung out with my really cool 13 year old daughter and with my bestest friend in the whole world Renada. Then, finally, on Sunday *hear the angels sing* the Cox guy came out and hooked up my Internet. The clouds parted, the sun was shining, I had Internet once again.

So my question for the day is this: Am I pathetic and sad or what? Do you all use your internet as much as I use mine or do I just need to get a life?

Happy Reading!

  2. LOL - I'm thrilled to hear that it's not just me. It's kind of like my cell phone. I didn't have a cell phone for YEARS, I was the last hold out, all my friends had one, my mom had one before I did, but now if I leave it at home I kind of freak. What if someone needs to get a hold of me?????

  3. Life without 'net? *shakes* NOOOOOOOO! I couldn't survive. Withdrawal is an ugly thing. Thank goodness for my laptop and wifi at the library, Starbucks, and Panera Bread! I'm so glad you are back among the living, Erika!

  6. I'm in everyone else's boat - no internet would be horrible. Even if I'm away from it for a day (traveling/visiting my mom), the first thing I when I get home is boot up the laptop. I shudder at just the thought of 5 days.
