100+ Books in 2012

I didn't get to 100 books last year, I blew it. Again. I only reached 70 books, not that it's a bad number, it isn't, but it's not 100. Last year I think I hit 75 or so. I am determined though, I'm going to do it again. I will hit it this year. I will. My husband has decided to keep track of how many books he's reading this year too. I think he's just curious.

Also, I have a question for all of you. On my sidebar I list the books that I am reading and listening to as well as a book that I recommend. Do you guys ever look at that? Be honest.

  1. Wow, I'm impressed with 70 books. Of course, with the year I had last year I didn't read anywhere close to that. I joined a Just for Fun Reading Challenge, and I'm surprised to see I have finished reading three books already this year. Maybe I read more than I thought last year, then. Good luck getting too 100!

I have seen your sidebar and do look at it. To be honest, though, I don't look at those on too many blogs because it seems many don't keep it updated. I wind up looking at the same books for months. Since I know you keep yours updated, though, I'll take a look when I'm on your blog! I know you and I have very similar tastes. Are you on GoodReads?

  2. Hey Karen. No I'm not on GoodReads. What is that?

  3. You can find it at www.goodreads.com. It's a place where you can keep track of your books, write reviews, and join discussions. You can follow authors there, too. I haven't used it much, but I'm trying to get going with it. I'm on as Karen Greenberg if you want to give it a try and friend me.

  5. 70 books is awesome, Erika - good job! I didn't read very much last year, but hope to get back into some regular reading time in 2012.

I've often looked at your sidebar when there's a cover that draws my attention - other than that, no, sorry!

  6. I'm with Janet, that's awesome !!! I'm on goodreads too - I was using it as a place to remember what I thought of the books I'd read. I realize others can see it and I'm sure someday someone will make a comment bashing me for my views but I don't care - it's there for ME not them. You are more than welcome to friend me there if you decide to join: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/3343003?shelf=read I haven't done anything on there is a bit - should probably do that. Oh and yes, I always look at your sidebar, 'cause I'm nosey like that ;)

  7. @Ban: I'm a nosy person, too, and now you REALLY have me interested in why people would bash you for your view on books. Would you like to be GoodReads friends?

  8. @Karen - haven't put up anything too controversial (I'm a bit of a chicken & honestly, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings) so you're welcome to send me an friend req. When I started, I was trying to be honest without being mean.
I'm just picky is all. I like reading a lot of YA 'cause even though they tackle adult issues now, they tend to tone down the 'graphic' scenes ... I have nothing against romance - I absolutely adore tension between characters and I love HEAs, what I hate is when a story is ONLY about how to get a couple in bed esp. when it's sold as a thriller or fantasy or paranormal etc..

  9. I like YA, too, for many of the same reasons. I do the same thing with my reviews, too. I stopped doing book tours and reviews on my blog because I felt obligated to give a good review after getting a book for free.
