100 Plus Books in 2010

Last week I was blog surfing and I ran across J. Kay's Book Blog. She's posted a challenge, to read 100+ books in 2010. Here's the general idea:

Audio, Re-reads, eBooks, YA, Manga, Graphic Novels, Library books, Novellas, Young Reader, Nonfiction – as long as the book has an ISBN or equivalent or can be purchased as such, the book counts.

What doesn't count: Individual short stories or individual books in the Bible.

No need to list your books in advance. You may select books as you go. Even if you list them now, you can change the list if needed.

Crossovers from other reading challenges count.

Challenge begins January 1st thru December, 2010. Books started before the 1st do not count.

I thought I hadn't given myself enough to do this year, so I joined. I'm going to post the books that I've read and the date that I finished them on the sidebar of my blog. If you would like to join this crazy challenge with me click on the title of this blog and it'll take you to the appropriate page. Come on, join in the fun!

Happy Reading.

  2. I think I got this one covered :) But I'm still not gonna join.

I'm told I have commitment issues.

I'd probably be more comfortable at the end of the year counting up what I accomplished than 'promising' to so something at the beginning of the year and not following through.

  5. How funny - I went to my site to post my first blog since Nov. and noticed that J. Kaye is a follower !!!! Guess this is a sign telling me something ... now, if I could only figure out what that is ... ;)

  7. You are a glutton for punishment! Gee...too bad I don't have an ISBN number for FAERIE FIRE yet. As many times as I've read it during revisions, I'd be WAY ahead of the game! LOL

Good luck. I'll be cheering everyone on!

  8. Yeah, pretty much. But hey, how much punishment can reading good books actually be?

  9. What a great idea! I was planning on keeping a record of all the books I read this year anyway. Be interesting if I can reach 100. :D

  10. I've been trying to keep better track of the books I've been reading the past few years. Had the titles written down in a notepad with the date I finished but didn't keep up on it and now, I have no idea where the book is. My newest trick is to put a post it note inside the front cover when I finish a book with the date finished, my rating on plot, characters etc. THAT has been working rather well and now I can go back and see what I thought of a book sometime in the future :D

  11. Welcome to the 100+ Challenge, Erika! This challenge is a stretch for me, but I'm going to try! Not really off to a good start as I haven't even finished my second book of 2010 yet!

    Good luck!

  12. Hey Christine. I'm not overly concerned because audio books count. I listen to and from work every day so I think that will help. I'm almost done with my 2nd book and working on my 3rd and 4th.

I hope you have an awesome weekend.

  13. I hoped to get to 200, but alack, there were a few interruptions in my slacking off and I only got up to 174.

This year I will, however, try and read a few more books from my TBR. I curbed a lot of my book-buying habit last year by exploiting the hell out of my library, but I also joined PBS, hee :-) So I'm still getting lots of new-to-me books that are toppling the pile.
